Handmade Cleft Oak Fences
We use sustainably managed oak that we cut ourselves in the South Lakes to make a range of cleft green oak fencing styles, from basic post and two rail fences to stowe pailing three rail fences. Projects cover a range of sizes and settings including small and large gardens, fields, allotments, woodlands and business premises.
Cleaving oak is to split down the grain rather than sawing through fibres. This ancient technique results in an extremely durable and beautiful material. Cleft oak fencing uses the natural shapes of each piece if wood and requires no treatment due to the high tannin content in the oak.
Diffferent finishes are availible to suit the setting.
